Top of the town: Dr. Mamta Varshney, Lecturer and Poetess
Who was your inspiration in Childhood?
Radio was my source of inspiration as I used to listen to loads of music and radio and tape recorder were the only source to listen to them in those times. I used to like all sorts of music whether they are songs, ghazals and even folk music also.
Which great leaders from history or your contemporaries influenced your thought process?
Gandhiji has influenced my thoughts a lot.
When did you start working on your ambition?
Only three years back, I started writing poetry. Before that I was a lecturer in B.Ed. College.
What do you do in your leisure time i.e. your hobbies?
I write a lot. I had been writing for a very long time. I also like to paint.
I feel to have a very creative world inside me and I am inclined toward creativity. I also want to express these creative instincts of mine to the world. It could come out in the form of poetry or may be painting or singing.

Who all are there in your immediate family?
My husband Mr. K.B. Varshney ji is Chief Engineer, Nagar Nigam
I have a daughter and a son.
How do you maintain work-life balance?
It is very important to maintain work life balance and I think I do it quite nicely. I give preference to my family first. But after that whatever time is left, I do not waste it. I spend rest of the time in writing and doing some social work. What I believe is that it is very important to be happy because if you are not happy you would not be able to spread happiness around you as you can only spread whatever you have with you.
Who is your best friend and his/her good qualities?
My mother and my husband are my best friends as they are my true friends and have always supported and encouraged me to do whatever I wanted to do. My son is also very supportive and a very good friend.
What one thing makes you very angry?
Though my husband is very supportive but at times he is not very vocal about this especially when it is most expected. This irritates me a lot.
What one thing makes you very happy?
When I am encouraged and supported by my husband on achieving something.
What accomplishments of your life you are proud of?
When I was lecturer, I did my job with total loyalty. When I am writing I am trying to do total justice to that. On my family front, when my son was born, I was so proud of myself to have a complete family with a son and a daughter. I always wanted to have both daughter and son.
What are your contributions to your city Meerut?
I have written a Slogan for Meerut City called “Meerut Gaan”. I was inspired to write this by my son as he asked to embrace the city and city will take you to heights. Then I was a part of MCMI as I was the coordinator of MCMI (Mera Shahar Meri Pahel)
I wrote few lines for it too
“Navmeerut nirman karenge chah nahi yeh haari hai
Mera Shahar hai pahel bhi meri nahi koi lachari hai
Aur maana pant kathin shabdo ko jeena to bhi mushkil hai
Per josh bhari in ummedon ki jeet abhi bhi jaari hai.”
“Haton se likhenge hum kal, Mera Shaher Meri Pahel”
Also I am involved with most of the organizations working for the welfare of the people of Meerut.
I also took out a CD “Holiya me macho re dhamal” of my poems and I donated the entire amount to Mishika group.
What are your future goals?
I now wanted to be a successful poetess and writer.

Trust on my capability and always want to be happy to spread happiness all around me.
