IPL: Franchises allowed to secure five players

For next three years, all IPL franchises can secure up to five cricketers from their previous year’s squads. They have been given two options to choose from – retain three cricketers with two Right to Match (RTM) or retain two cricketers with three RTM. And those who want to start with a clean slate will have the option of three RTM. Sources told TOI a few board members suggested at least five retentions for each team along with RTM, which was turned down by other powerful members of BCCI administration.
