25 Questions before selecting your child’s school
The second most important decision you will make as a parent — apart from deciding to have the kid in the first place — is deciding which school for them to enroll in. Make the right decision and you could put them on a path toward lifelong learning, a prestigious college education and a successful career. Choose wrong, and well, you know.
It can be challenging to know the right questions to ask while evaluating your school options. In order to make the process easier, we’ve created this list of 25 essential questions that will help you acquire the information you need to make an educated decision about the best fit for your child. We encourage you to print a copy of this guide for each school on your list and answer all 25 questions. Good luck with your school search!

Question 1. What is positioning of school?
For Example: Is school known for Stimulating Academic Environment, Strong infrastructural support for Sports, Vibrant Extra Curricular activities to enable holistic development.
Question 2. How is school suited for the kind of personality of your child?
For Example: Kids have different personalities such as moderate, dominant, reserved etc. Is he/she academically brilliant, outstanding in sports or an average performer with a clear objective about his career path.
Question 3. What is the School Fee ? What does the tuition include? On top of tuition fees, what fees or additional charges can I expect during the year?
Question 4. How does the school meet individual students’ academic requirements? How does school assesses performance of the students?
For Example: Quality Teachers, Instructors, Coaches to enable No Tuition policy, Remedial Classes, Smart classes, students in a class must not be more than 35 .
Question 5. How does the schools’ daily schedule support learning?
For example: Basic principles of Morning Assembly, Alternative to homework, Olympiad / NTSE Preparation , 21 century learning classrooms, Science Labs, Play way environment for KG students etc.

Question 6. What Pedagogy – Teaching Methodology is followed by school to enable development of vision of the students.
For example: In Pre-Primary level – strong academics environment constituting of the following: Personal, social and emotional development; Communication, language and literacy; Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy; Physical development; Creative development; Knowledge and understanding of the world
For Primary Level Stimulating Environment to enable following:
Developing Mathematical and Scientific knowledge & skills; Developing an effective and imaginative use of language through English Labs; Advanced computer labs for improving academic ability
For Middle Years following set of objectives to be considered:
Gaining practical knowledge in the science lab; Engaged minds in the Library; Model Class Presentations help promote talents and instil confidence; Voicing their thoughts over social issues during assemblies; Promoting confidence through joyful activities
Question 7. Does school have strong infrastructural set up to promote over all development?
For Example: Library, 21st century classrooms, computer labs, Sports fields like Indoor Badminton, Cricket stadium, Lawn tennis court, Basket ball courts, TT Tables, Indoor Volley ball court, Swimming pool, Martial arts, Shooting arena, Football Ground etc.
Question 8. How will I know how my child is doing in school?
For Example: Principals and teachers accessibility ( Meet principal twice before admission and see that the principal is accessible .
Question 9. Does school provide professional educational counselling support to your ward?
For Example: Educational Counsellors accessibility (Meet Counsellor before admission and check the professional counselling support?)
Question 10. How strong is school is sports facilities ?
For Example: Sports fields like Indoor Badminton, Cricket stadium, Lawn tennis court, Basket ball courts, TT Tables, Indoor Volley ball court, Swimming pool, Martial arts, Shooting arena, Football Ground etc.
Question 11. Is school upto class XIIth?
For Example: Will this one time decision help your child to find his future journey and career path after completing his school education?
Question 12. Does school has school calendar with rich Inter school and intra school competitions ?
Question 14. In which grades do sports begin at the school?
For Example: Kindergarten with sports curriculum,
Question 15. Quality of Boarding facility at school?
For Example: How does school shape and support the hostel students to meet their career objectives? What are the qualities of wardens, food, evening preparatory classes at boarding facility? Does school creates a self motivated learner ?
Question 16. How are alumni of school placed after passing out from school?
For Example: Alumni
Question 17. Does School has senior division of NCC program ?
Question 18. Does school has facility and teachers for differently abled students ?
Question 19. Is mission of the school well defined
For example : School mission is to develop young men with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs. We stress the total development of each child: spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical. Every student must identify with his/her learning curve to find the right career path.
Question 20. Is Vision of the school clear and foresighted?
For example: School vision is to give the society, citizens with high moral values.To do our part for the progress of our country, we strive to give to our nation the following good professionals by year 2025.

Question 23. What is the student teacher ratio and students per class ?
For example : Please do not select a school with more than 1:12 student teacher ratio and never send your child to a school where number of students are more than 35 in a class.

Question 24. Is the school you plan to admit your ward, flexible, Relevant, Professional, Innovative, Diverse, has clean and well organised environment, supportive teachers and administrators, reliable support staff and efficient service providers, state of the art equipment and facilities
Question 25. Why are you choosing a particular school for your child?
For Example: Some people choose a particular school only for society display and child gets into depression after few years as parents had not considered or pondered on the questions as listed for your reference as above.
