N Srinivasan, MD of India Cements, on Thursday joined Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto saying there was no necessity for any GST cuts on automobiles as the current crisis was a result of bad planning by automakers.

Raids unearth Rs 470 crore fraudulent GST claims

In a massive nationwide search operation carried out on exporters and their suppliers covering 336 locations on Wednesday, nearly 1,200 officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and Directorate General of GST Intelligence unearthed fraudulent claims of over Rs 470 crore of Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) and seized fake invoices of Rs 3,500 crore.

Bank credit growth slows to 10.24%, deposits at 9.73%

Bank credit and deposits growth slowed to 10.24 per cent and 9.73 per cent to Rs 96.80 lakh crore and Rs 127.80 lakh crore, respectively, in the fortnight to August 30, show the latest RBI data. In the year-ago fortnight, advances were at Rs 87.80 lakh crore while deposits stood at Rs 116.46 lakh crore.
