Pakistan’s master leg-spinner Abdul Qadir died in Lahore on Friday after suffering from a massive cardiac arrest, his family confirmed. Qadir was 63-years-old and is survived by his wife, four sons and a daughter who is married to current Pak star-batsman Umar Akmal. Qadir played in 67 Tests and 104 ODIs and had a total 368 wickets in his international career.
The out-of-favour India player Dinesh Karthik was issued a show-cause notice by the BCCI for attending a promotional event of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchise Trinbago Knight Riders, which is owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The 34-year-old Karthik was seen in Trinbago Knight Riders dressing room and attending their opening CPL match.
The Vostochny cosmodrome was originally supposed to be running manned launches from last year but the grand project has been consistently behind schedule. At a meeting with the head of the country’s space agency Dmitry Rogozin and others, Putin asked for details on how close the spaceport is to completion.
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said that the inflation rate is under control and it has not increased since 2014.
“Inflation rate hasn’t increased since 2014, if you want to raise the issue then you must see the inflation index between 2008-2016. No one can raise questions at our govt when it comes to inflation. It is absolutely under control,” Sitharaman said.
The country’s foreign exchange reserves fell by $446 million to $428.604 billion in the week to August 30, mainly on account of a drop in foreign currency assets, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data showed on Friday.
