Markets regulator Sebi has asked the promoters of all listed companies to disclose the reasons for pledging of shares if their quantum is 50% or more of their total holding in the company. Sebi has also asked for similar disclosures if the total shares pledged by promoters exceed 20% of the company’s equity capital.
In its monetary policy, the RBI has gone all out to revive confidence in well-functioning entities in the non-banking finance company (NBFC) sector. First, it has brought the single-borrower exposure limit for bank lending to NBFCs to 20% of the lender’s capital as compared to 15% earlier. Second, it will recognise bank lending to registered NBFCs for selected purposes as priority sector lending.

Pakistan has closed a corridor in its airspace, which will result in an additional up to 12 minutes of flying time for overseas flights, an Air India official said on Wednesday. The flights will have to be diverted to other routes due to the closure. Air India operates around 50 flights daily through Pak airspace heading to the US, Europe and the Middle East.

Pakistan’s decision to suspend bilateral trade ties with India would hit the neighbouring country more as they import essential items like onion, tomatoes and chemicals, according to experts. “The suspension of trade relations will hit Pakistan more badly as India is less dependent on Pakistan while the latter is more,” Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) Director General Ajay Sahai said.
