Azim Premji commits Rs 53,000 crore more to philanthropy

Wipro chairman Azim Premji announced an increase in his philanthropic commitment by $7.5 billion, taking his overall commitment to his endowment to $21 billion. This makes it one of the biggest foundations in the world. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has investment assets of about $40 billion, and the Ford Foundation about $12 billion.

Worldwide ban on B737 MAX on safety concerns

The ban on the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft became worldwide on Wednesday after the US joined Canada and other countries in grounding the aircraft amid mounting global fears for the jets’ airworthiness. US authorities said new evidence showed similarities between Sunday’s deadly crash of an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 and a fatal accident in Indonesia in October.

Air India cancels some Europe flights due to crew, aircraft shortage

Air India has cancelled its popular Delhi-Madrid-Delhi, Delhi-Birmingham-Delhi and Delhi-Amritsar-Birmingham flights from this Saturday “due to operational reasons till further notice.” The flights cancelled from March 16 are AI 135 and 136 (Delhi-Madrid-Delhi); AI 113 and 114 (Delhi-Birmingham-Delhi) and AI 117 and 118 (Delhi-Amritsar-Birmingham-Amritsar-Delhi).
